Why buy Zovirax tablets?

Zovirax is a drug from the group of antivirals and is used to combat herpes infections of the skin and mucous membranes. The active ingredient is called acyclovir. Zovirax is effective against different types of herpes virus including cold sores, primary and recurrent genital herpes; shingles and chickenpox.

In people who have frequent flare-ups, Zovirax is used to reduce the number of future episodes. Zovirax is an antiviral drug. However, it is not a cure for these infections. The viruses that cause these infections live on in the body between outbreaks. Zovirax reduces the severity and duration of these outbreaks. It helps the wounds to heal faster, prevents new wounds from forming and relieves pain/itching. This medicine can also help reduce the duration of pain after the wounds heal. In addition, in people with a weakened immune system, Zovirax can reduce the risk of the virus spreading to other parts of the body and causing serious infections.

In which dosage forms can Zovirax be bought?

The drug Zovirax is available as tablets, cream, eye ointment and oral suspension. The tablets are available in 3 strengths on the market: 200mg, 400mg and 800mg. The lip cream contains 5 mg/g aciclovir. As an oral suspension, Zovirax is available in 400 mg/5 ml dosage.

How much do Zovirax tablets cost in the pharmacy?

The price of Zovirax varies depending on the dosage and the package size. It also plays a role here whether you buy an original preparation Zovirax or a generic Aciclovir. Since there are several generic manufacturers, the prices also differ.

For example, 25 pieces of Aciclovir ratiopharm 200 mg tablets cost from €14.10. For a pack of 100 pieces you should pay from 24.88 euros. The price for 35 pieces starts at €19.03 for 400 mg tablets and €25.49 for 800 mg tablets accordingly.

Can you take Zovirax tablets during pregnancy?

If you are pregnant, you can take Zovirax tablets only after consulting your doctor. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified aciclovir (Zovirax) as a Pregnancy Category B drug. This means that studies conducted on animals have shown a low risk, but there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

The American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) states that the FDA has not approved a drug to treat herpes during pregnancy. However, many doctors prescribe aciclovir (Zovirax) in the last few weeks of pregnancy when the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks.

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, taking Zovirax in the first trimester does not increase birth defects. Therefore, Zovirax is recommended as the "antiviral of choice" in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Studies on the effects of Zovirax in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy are limited.

Can Zovirax be considered in children?

You can already treat babies with a herpes simplex infection or chickenpox with Zovirax. However, prior to administration, a doctor's consultation is required. Tell your child's doctor if your child has had an unusual or allergic reaction to aciclovir, valacyclovir, famciclovir, or any other medicines in the past. Keep a list of all the medicines your child is taking and show it to the doctor or pharmacist. If your child has kidney problems, precautions may need to be taken with this medicine.

If your child's symptoms do not improve after a few weeks of treatment, or if they worsen, contact your child's doctor.

My husband has been plagued by herpes for about 2 years and therefore tries everything that promises success. Until recently, he wasn't really happy with any of the products. But 3 months ago he found something really good that really helps against the herpes itself. These are the Zovirax tablets. Really recommended!
