Zithromax is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic from the macrolide-azalide group. The active ingredient is called azithromycin. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.
The mechanism of action of azithromycin is related to inhibition of microbial cell protein synthesis. By binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, it suppresses protein synthesis, slowing bacterial growth and reproduction.
In high concentrations it has a bactericidal effect.
The film-coated tablets Zithromax can be taken independently of or with meals with plenty of liquid. The dosage depends on an ailment and a severity of that ailment.
For the treatment of respiratory tract infections, otitis media and skin infections, the recommended total dose for adults and adolescents weighing more than 45 kg is 1.5 grams. This dose can be taken using either the 3-day regimen or the 5-day regimen.
In uncomplicated genital infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, the total dose is prescribed in the amount of 1 gram, which is applied at once.
In the case of genital infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, combined therapy with ceftriaxone (250 or 500 mg) is usually prescribed. The recommended dose of Zithromax is 1 or 2 grams.

The alcohol does not seem to affect the effectiveness of Zithromax antibiotic. However, alcohol consumption can cause temporary liver damage in some people. This can make the side effects of this drug more difficult. Alcohol dehydrates the body, which increases the risk of developing or worsening side effects. These side effects include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, headache and stomach pain.
In rare cases, the antibiotic Zithromax itself can also cause liver damage and lead to more severe side effects. Therefore, everything that puts additional stress on the liver should be avoided, including alcohol consumption during treatment with Zithromax.
The antibiotic Zithromax does not work against all bacteria that cause infectious diseases. Using an incorrectly selected or incorrectly dosed antibiotic can lead to complications.

I received Zithromax for bronchitis in the form of a 3-day treatment. Already a few hours after the first tablet I noticed an improvement. After the first day of taking it, I felt much better and my state of health was no longer comparable to the days before. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was vomiting, which only happened 3 times and about 2-3 hours after taking the pill. After the 3-day treatment, my symptoms were almost gone.
