How does it work?

Augmentin is an antibiotic with a particularly broad spectrum of activity against the bacterial pathogens that are frequently found in general practice and in hospitals. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections. The β-lactamase inhibitory effect of clavulanic acid extends the spectrum of amoxicillin to a wider range of organisms, including many that are resistant to other β-lactam antibiotics.
