How does it work?

Augmentin is an antibiotic with a particularly broad spectrum of activity against the bacterial pathogens that are frequently found in general practice and in hospitals. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections. The β-lactamase inhibitory effect of clavulanic acid extends the spectrum of amoxicillin to a wider range of organisms, including many that are resistant to other β-lactam antibiotics.

How is it used?

Augmentan tablets should always be taken exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water at the beginning of or just before a meal. The tablet-taking times should be evenly spaced throughout the day and at least 4 hours apart.

The recommended dose for adults and children weighing 40 kg is one Augmentin 1000 mg tablet twice a day . This dose can be taken by mouth three times a day as needed.
